Evergreen slims its dial

NEW YORK --- Evergreen Media Corp., soon to merge with Chancellor Broadcasting Co., has agreed to sell three radio stations for $64.1 million, the company said Tuesday.

The sales pare down Evergreen's station group, partly for regulatory reasons, ahead of its merger with Chancellor and acquisition of Viacom Inc.'s radio stations. Those two deals will make the combined group the biggest pure radio broadcaster in the nation.

Evergreen said Tuesday it would sell WEJM-FM Chicago to Dontron Inc. for $14.8 million, WEJM-AM Chicago to Douglas Broadcasting for $7.5 million and WFLN-FM Philadelphia to Greater Media Radio for $41.8 million.
