Maltin to teach USC film class

He'll also moderate discussions between industryites and class

Film critic and historian Leonard Maltin has been appointed to teach the Theatrical Film Symposium class at the USC School of Cinema-Television, beginning Jan. 8.

Maltin, the author of the reference book "Leonard Maltin's Movie Encyclopedia" and the film guide "Leonard Maltin's Movie and Video Guide," will focus on issues relevant to the contemporary film business and place them in a historical context. The course is based around regular screenings of independent and mainstream releases.

The resident film buff on Paramount TV's syndicated "Entertainment Tonight" will also act as an interviewer and moderator for informal discussions with cast and crew members from various films. Past guests have included George Lucas, Robert Zemeckis and Bryan Singer.
