USA, Grosso-Jacobson bringing Clark to tube

'Pretend You Don't See Her' first to air

Cable's USA Network has inked a two-film deal with Grosso-Jacobson Prods. to produce a pair of made-for-TV movies based on Mary Higgins Clark's bestselling novels.

First title to be developed for the network is "Pretend You Don't See Her," based on the Clark suspense yarn about a woman who goes into the national witness protection program after witnessing a murder. Hardcover edition of the tome spent 14 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and five weeks at No. 1.

"While Pretty One Sleeps," the most recent film based on a Clark story, aired last year on the Family Channel, ranking No. 1 among basic cablers in household ratings as well as such demographic categories as women 18 to 49 and women 25 to 54.

Ian Valentine, VP of longform programming for USA Networks, said in making the announcement, "We are excited that we outbid other competitors. ... Grosso-Jacobson proved on CBS and the Family Channel that (these) movies bring in a strong rating and an even stronger (female) demographic."
