Steinberg heads for Kushner-Locke
TV agent tapped for exec VP seat
In his new post, which he'll assume this week, Steinberg will be heavily involved in the production company's TV efforts. His hiring is in anticipation of the departure of Kushner-Locke TV president Rob Dwek, who is expected to join ABC Entertainment as the No. 2 executive behind Jamie Tarses (Daily Variety, Feb. 14). Dwek is expected to join the network in the next several weeks.
Steinberg had worked with Kushner-Locke on several of the company's products when he was at ICM. His other clients included producers BMG-TV, Brayton-Carlucci Prods. and Judith Regan. He also worked with authors Deepak Chopra, Tim Green and Lavryle Spencer and packaged books with Kevyn Aucoin and Judith Regan. Steinberg also worked on ICM's relations with corporate clients, including Starbucks and Ralph Lauren.
Steinberg will report directly to co-chairmen Donald Kushner and Peter Locke. The company is primarily known in the TV business for its telefilms, however it is also producing the ABC anthology "Gun," which premiered last week, and is developing a drama based on the British show "Cracker" for the network.
Kushner-Locke also has a deal to develop a telefilm for the Alphabet web based on the Heaven's Gate suicides of last month.
