Rosegarten tapped as CBS comic scout
Deal calls for new chief to scour comedy clubs nationwide
CBS has tapped veteran manager Rory Rosegarten as the network's chief scout for up-and-coming comedians.
Rosegarten's unusual development deal with the Eye web calls for him to scour the nation's comedy clubs, among other venues, for rising stars on the yukster circuit. Rosegarten will work closely with CBS' casting and comedy development departments to mold the comics and develop series around them.
As part of the deal, Rosegarten will serve as an executive producer of any series featuring talent he brings to the web. Rosegarten already is an exec producer of the CBS sitcom "Everybody Loves Raymond," which stars Rosegarten client Ray Romano.
Rosegarten's Gotham-based management company, the Conversation Co., also handles comedians John Henson, Brian Regan, Robert Klein and David Brenner.
