'JAG' ups Eye Friday, but NBC takes night

CBS' midseason return of "JAG" posted a 8.1 rating and 13 share in the 9-10 p.m. slot on Friday, according to Nielsen.

The show, which takes the slot that was held by the short-lived romantic action-adventure "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," improved slightly on that show's 7.3/13 average. It was also up in women 18-49 over "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" by 10%, with an 11 share. Overall, CBS posted a 7.8/13 in households.

NBC won the night as "Dateline" posted a season-high 13.1/22, opposite "JAG." ABC finished second with a 10.1/18, despite a season low rating for the freshman sitcom "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch."

Fox finished with a 6.2/11 for the night as a new episode of "Millennium" posted a 6.7/11, its lowest performance this season.
