NEW YORK -- Dennis Davidson Associates vice president Reid Rosefelt has ankled to form Gotham-based movie marketing firm Magic Lantern Inc.

At DDA, Rosefelt helped promote foreign-language film Oscar winners "Burnt by the Sun" and "Belle Epoque," as well as "The Last Seduction," "Persuasion" and "Living in Oblivion." He also was a publicity consultant for the Sundance Institute.

Joining Rosefelt in Magic Lantern's West 57th Street offices will be account executive Harris Dew, recently an account exec at Rachel McCallister & Associates, and Susan Duffy, who will act as office manager and assistant publicist.

Magic Lantern marks the second time Rosefelt has hung out his own shingle. From 1981-85, he ran a marketing firm bearing his name that helped publicize Jim Jarmusch's "Stranger Than Paradise" and Susan Seidelman's "Desperately Seeking Susan," as well as films by Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Werner Herzog, Stephen Frears, Wim Wenders and others.

Rosefelt, who began his career as a graphic designer, says he wants Magic Lantern to handle advertising as well as publicity. Its current accounts include the Miami Film Festival; Gregor Nicholas' "Broken Arrow" (for Sony Pictures Classics); Greg Mottola's "The Daytrippers" and Angela Pope's "Hollow Reed" (for CFP); and Roger Simon's "Prague Duet."
