Inside move: Carolco seeks 'Island' jetsam
By following their own treasure map (the production's shipping records), attorneys for Carolco Pictures, the bankrupt indie film company that produced the picture, discovered where the treasures came to rest.
The cannon may be found hanging from the rafters of Planet Hollywood in Helsinki, Finland, along with the pegleg and other items on display from the $80 million flop directed by Helsinki's native son (and Planet Hollywood investor) Renny Harlin.
Now Carolco's attorneys may file suit to get those items back and take a share of the restaurant's revenues to boot, according to the liquidation plan filed recently with U.S. bankruptcy court in Los Angeles.
Harlin and Davis could not be reached for comment.
The attorneys are also looking into Planet Hollywood's use of props from "Terminator 2: Judgment Day" and "Rambo," pics whose stars, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone, are also backers of the global chain of eateries.
Now, if they only had a map to "Cutthroat Island's" $80 million.......
