HBO Intl. shifts Hooks
SINGAPORE --- William Hooks, the head of HBO Asia since its launch in 1991, is relocating to New York as senior VP of HBO Intl.
Announcing the appointment today, HBO Intl. topper Curt Viebranz said Hooks will assist in evaluating distribu-tion options for all HBO Intl. ventures and look to create more business opportunities for the HBO Asia platform.
Hooks, who indicated last year he would return to Gotham for family reasons, will report to HBO exec VP Steven Rosenberg. Hooks is being succeeded as HBO Asia president and CEO by former Texan cable exec Dan Murrell.
Hooks was unavailable for comment, as he and Murrell are immersed in HBO Asia board meetings here this week. He is expected to take up his new post in New York imminently.
