LOWE DOWN FOR SERIES

Rob Lowe has inked a two-year deal with Paramount Network Television to develop a comedy series with the studio.

Lowe, best known for his feature work, has had some television experience lately, receiving good reviews for his portrayal of a deaf mute in the ABC miniseries "The Stand." He also starred in Showtime telefilms "On Dangerous Ground" and "Midnight Man." His recent theatrical credits include "Tommy Boy," "Mulholland Falls," "Wayne's World" and the upcoming Robert Zemeckis release "Comet," which stars Jodie Foster and Matthew McConaughey.

Developing the series for Lowe and Paramount are producers Mort Nathan and Barry Fanaro, whose most recent credits include scripting the feature "Kingpin." The duo's other credits include co-executive producers of "The Golden Girls." Lowe's manager Bernie Brillstein also will be involved in the project.

"Rob is a talented actor, recognizable to television and film audiences here and abroad. We are pleased to be able to provide a home where his acting abilities can flourish," said Garry Hart, president of Paramount Network Televi-sion.

Lowe's deal was brokered by United Talent Agency.
