Gless, Daly host 'Gracies'

"Cagney & Lacey" alumni Sharon Gless and Tyne Daly have been tabbed to host the 22nd annual American Women in Radio and Television awards, which have this year been renamed "The Gracies," in honor of Gracie Allen. Event takes place April 24 at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York.

Awards recognize achievement in radio and TV programs "by, for and about women." Winners in some 30 cate-gories will be recognized for programming that advances women and women's issues.

Among this year's recipients will be KCBS-TV for the report "Mammography --- Too Young to Die" (which earned an honorable mention), stories on CBS News, "Primetime Live," "60 Minutes," "Dateline NBC" and "Extra," and episodes of "Mad About You," "Cybill," "Chicago Hope" and "Party of Five," as well as the HBO abortion drama "If These Walls Could Talk."

The estate of Gracie Allen this year granted permission to the Foundation of American Women in Radio and TV to attach her name to the awards.

The Middle-East International Film Festival kicks off this fall.
