Humphries feted

Barry Humphries, creator of the well-known TV and stage personality Dame Edna Everage, will be given the Sir Peter Ustinov Endowment at this year's Banff Rockie Awards on June 9 as part of the Banff Television Festival.

Humphries will be on hand at the TV fest, which takes place June 8 to 14, and Dame Edna will participate in a comedy session during the festival.

The Melbourne-born Humphries created the character of Dame Edna Everage in 1956, and she has been in the spotlight in numerous British stage productions and TV specials over the years.



The Middle-East International Film Festival kicks off this fall.
