William Thomas Brooks, an early local TV star and radio announcer and the brother of comedian Foster Brooks, died Sunday in Louisville, Ky., of unreported causes. He was 87.

Brooks had been in a nursing home for the past eight years.

(Cactus) Tom Brooks appeared on the "T-Bar-V" show along with Randy Atcher on WHAS-TV Louisville. The birthday program for children aired between 1950 and 1971. Atcher said more than 153,000 local children appeared on the show over the years.
