Liman a firm 'Go'
'Swingers' helmer's next flies for Banner
Former Miramax production exec Paul Rosenberg will produce the film with Banner topper Mickey Liddell.
Set over a 24-hour period in contemporary L.A. and Las Vegas, "Go" follows the misadventures of a supermarket check-out girl, a transplanted British drug dealer and two fledgling actors headed for series stardom. It's based on a spec script by John August (Daily Variety, July 10).
"Go" will be Liman's first project since his directorial debut, the Jon Favreau-penned hipster comedy "Swingers." Made for around $250,000, the independently financed pic became the subject of an all-out bidding war among distributors, with Miramax eventually shelling out $5 million for worldwide rights. Starring Favreau and Vince Vaughn, pic went on to gross $4.5 million theatrically in the U.S.
Liman was attached to helm United Artists' "The Breakers," starring Alicia Silverstone and Angelica Huston, although it now looks unlikely that he will do that project.
He's also attached to Working Title's "Bachelor No. 2," about a guy who wins a dream date with a gorgeous woman who turns out to be a nightmare.
Banner's next release will be Meg Richman's "Under Heaven," starring Joely Richardson and Aden Young, which preems at the Sundance Film Festival. It's skedded to go into theaters in July.
Liman was repped by CAA's Adam Kanter and Ken Stovitz and his manager Phillis Carlyle.
