Hunegs hops over to WB exec VP post

Craig Hunegs has been tapped to replace Nancy Tellem as executive vice president of business and financial affairs at Warner Bros. TV.

Hunegs is joining the studio's network production arm from sister netlet the WB, where he has served as senior VP of business affairs for the past two years. Tellem meanwhile, is expected to join CBS, where she will head business affairs and have a major role at CBS Prods. (Daily Variety, June 19).

In his new post, Hunegs will report to Warner Bros. TV president Tony Jonas, taking on responsibility for all the division's business and financial matters, talent and network negotiations and other day-to-day operations of the business affairs department.

He won't officially begin his new post until a replacement at the WB is found. The WB is now drawing up a short list of candidates and will begin the selection process soon.

While biz affairs chief at the WB, Hunegs handled all negotiations for development, acquisition and licensing of programming for all dayparts. He was central to bringing high-profile projects to the network, including feature producer Joss Whedon's "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," and Tom Arnold's return to TV in a show this fall.

WB execs praised the move, saying it strengthened the relationship between the studio seller and them as the network buyer.

Before Warner Bros., Hunegs was VP of biz affairs at NBC for five years. He handled all talent and license fee negotiations, as well as deals for pilots, series, telefilms and specials for the network and what was at the time called NBC Prods. He also has worked as an attorney and a director of contracts at ABC Entertainment, and was an associate attorney at Golenbock & Barell.
