Emmy nom ballot box closes Friday

Friday is the deadline for the 8,500 active members of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences to return nomination ballots for the 49th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards competition to ATAS' independent accounting firm of Ernst & Young.

Nominations will be announced at 5:35 a.m. July 24 at the Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in North Hollywood, with peer panel judging to determine winners taking place Aug. 16-17 at the Beverly Hilton hotel.

The Primetime Emmy telecast, hosted by Bryant Gumbel, is skedded for 8 p.m. Sept. 14 on CBS from the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.
