Marjorie O. Best

Costume designer Marjorie O. Best, who garnered an Oscar in 1949 as one of the three designers on the Errol Flynn starrer "The Adventures of Don Juan," died June 14 of heart failure at her Toluca Lake home. She was 94.

Best was born in Jacksonville, Ill., on April 10, 1903. She later moved to Los Angeles with her parents and attended the Chouinard School of Art. She later taught at the school.

Among her screen credits were "Giant" (1956), "Sunrise at Campobello" (1960) and "The Greatest Story Ever Told" (1965), all of which won her Oscar nominations for costume design.

Noted for period films, Best also worked on such films as "The Nun's Story," "Rio Bravo," "Tender Is the Night" and "State Fair."

Donations in Best's name may be made to the Braille Institute or the American Heart Assn.
