NATPE's Rosey glow

With a captive audience of thousands of TV execs, Roseanne is sure to speak her mind at the January confab of the National Assn. of Television Program Executives in New Orleans.

The firebrand comedian, who's gearing up to enter the daytime talkshow fray in fall 1998, has been tapped as the keynote speaker for syndication's annual sales convention, set for Jan. 19-22. But she won't be schmoozing the international TV buying community at Mipcom in September as planned.

"The show's already selling so well internationally that she really didn't need to go," said a spokesman for Roseanne, who abruptly canceled plans to attend.

For sure, "The Roseanne Show" has been a fast starter domestically for distributor King World Prods. KWP has nabbed top dollar for the talker in pre-sales to stations covering more than 65% of U.S. TV households in just two months.
