Jay Folb, an Emmy Award-nominated TV writer and producer who wrote for TV shows such as "MASH" and "Maude," died Aug. 10 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center following a lengthy bout with cancer. He was 75.
Born and raised in New York state, Folb started his career in advertising, working at several agencies including Benton & Bowles and Young & Rubicam.
Folb subsequently relocated to Hollywood, where he began a successful career as a TV writer.
TV credits include "Alfred Hitchcock Presents," "MASH," "After MASH," "One Big Family" and "Maude."
Folb garnered an Emmy nomination for a "Maude" episode titled "The Analyst" during the 1975-76 season.
In 1980, he was associated with the comedy series "Freebie and the Bean," which was based on the 1974 film.
Folb is survived by his wife, Blossom, his son and a sister.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations in Folb's name to a charity of the donor's choice.
