WGA plans Maui confab
The invitation-only conference, called the Writers Guild Maui Roundtable, will be held Aug. 23-27 at the Grand Wailea Resort & Spa, where topics such as the studio development process, television staff writing and independent finance will be discussed and debated.
Brad Radnitz, president of the Writers Guild of America West, said that the goal of the conference is to "provide new and exciting insights into our often tumultuous business and create closer ties between working writers and creative management."
Callie Khouri, a member of the guild committee producing the conference, said that the conference will give members "the kind of inside information that leads to bigger, smarter deals and promises to serve as a significant step forward in the process of creating a resurgent, entrepreneurial spirit in the writing community."
