Live, Almond part ways
A four-year veteran at Live, Almond was charged by Live CEO Roger Burlage three years ago with building the production division of what was formerly a homevideo company.
Insiders say Almond and Burlage differed over future directions for the indie, which was recently purchased by an investor group led by Boston-based Bain Capital.
Under Almond, Live developed and produced "The Arrival" starring Charlie Sheen, which saw disappointing numbers at the box office. "The Substitute," toplining Tom Berenger, did moderately well. Both pics, which did respectable video business, are getting the sequel treatment, with "The Substitute II" already in the can.
Also upcoming is "Critical Care" from helmer Sidney Lumet and "Suicide Kings" starring Christopher Walken.
Almond was previously an exec at New World and ITC.
