City of Hope to honor Reid, Edmonds

Non-profit to fete LaFace co-founders in October

Producers L.A. (Antonio) Reid and Kenneth (Babyface) Edmonds have been tapped as the recipients of the City of Hope's Spirit of Life award. The co-founders of LaFace Records, which has spawned such artists as Toni Braxton and Az Yet, will be honored at the org's dinner gala in October.

Past honorees for the prestigious nod from the org's music and entertainment industry arm include VH1 prexy John Sykes, Ticketmaster CEO Fredric Rosen and BMG chairman Michael Dornemann. The award salutes an exec's outstanding personal, professional and philanthropic achievements.

The gala, one of the music industry's biggest annual charity events, attracts A-list heavyweights and raises money for the City of Hope, a non-profit medical and research center that treats and researches such diseases as AIDS, diabetes and leukemia. The event typically raises millions of dollars for the charity.

Entertainment for the evening's show will be announced shortly.
