Producing team buys Ray-Art Studios

Producers Robert Papazian and James Hirsch have acquired a 12-acre production facility in Woodland Hills.

Ray-Art Studios, formerly known as Variel Studios, includes four sound stages of at least 23,000 square feet and a 189,000-square-foot office building. The facility, located just north of Warner Center, is the production home of 20th Century Fox's "413 Hope Street" and ABC's "Nothing Sacred."

"It's something that Jim (Hirsch) and have thought about for two years, and now it's a reality," Papazian told Daily Variety.

Papazian and Hirsch, co-executive producers of CBS' "Nash Bridges," plan an expansion, which will include four to six new sound stages, post- production facilities and an additional office building.
