'Cinderella's' fall ball
The folks at "The Wonderful World of Disney" knew their target audience when they invited all young girls attending Monday night's premiere of the newest TV version of "Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella" to come dressed as the title character. Throughout the Chinese Theatre were princess wannabes, all primed to hear a classic score to a timeless story.
Indeed, it's hard to remember a premiere screening, particularly of a film made for TV, that drew so much applause for each musical number.
There from the film to absorb the ovations: exec producer and co-star Whitney Houston, star Brandy, and co-stars Whoopi Goldberg and Jason Alexander. Also repping the pic were exec producers Debra Martin Chase, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, and Walt Disney Television prexy Charles Hirschhorn.
Among the attendees joining in the applause, and the post-screening party at the Hollywood Colonnade across Hollywood Boulevard were ABC's Jamie Tarses, Magic Johnson, Damon Wayans, Mykelti Williamson and Paul Winfield.
