BERLIN --- The 15th annual Munich Film Festival, Germany's most important non-competition festival, begins July 28 in the Bavarian capital.

The "festival of great emotions" opens with Katja Riemann starrer "Bandits," directed by Katja von Garnier ("Makin' Up"). German helmers Dana Vavrova, Dominik Graf, Ralf Huettner and Herbert Achternbusch will also present pics.

International highlights include Manoel de Oliveira's "Party," "Metalmeccanico" by Italian director Lina Wertmuller, and new pics from Bertrand Tavernier and Nicolas Roeg. Woody Allen's "Everybody Says I Love You," Paul Schrader's "Touch" and Abel Ferrara's "Blackout" will have their German preems at the fest.

Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon and helmer Jules Dassin ("Rififi chez les hommes") are expected to come to Munich to collect CineMerit lifetime achievement awards.
