'Ballgame' a winner for scribe Bernat

Laszlo Czeto Bernat has been awarded the 1997 Hartley-Merrill Prize for international screenwriting.

The Hungarian scribe accepted his award for "A Whole New Ballgame" at a luncheon ceremony at the New Writers Guild West. The screenplay concerns a reform school director who organizes a civil guard to combat crime, then exploits his new power to take over the whole town.
