Boosler loses 'Love' interest
Citing creative differences, Boosler withdrew from the part of Corine in the tuner, an adaptation of an 18th-century comedy by Pierre Marivaux. The production stars Betty Buckley, Susan Egan and F. Murray Abraham and is set to open at the Royale in October. She will be replaced by veteran legit actress Nancy Opel ("Mere Mortals and Others").
"I have the greatest respect and affection for Elayne Boosler," said Michael Mayer, the show's director. "I'm disappointed that her Broadway debut won't be in 'Triumph of Love,' but you can bet I'll be first in line to see her future triumphs on other stages."
"Triumph," with book by James MacGruder and songs by Jeffrey Stock and Susan Birkenhead, starts previews Sept. 23 and opens Oct. 23.
