WWOR lands vet TV weatherman Field

NEW YORK --- UPN flagship station WWOR-TV has tapped Gotham weather fixture Frank Field as its weekend meteorologist.

Field, a weatherman on New York television since 1957, is ankling Fox's WNYW to join WWOR, where his son, Storm Field, is weekday meteorologist.

In addition to his weather duties, Field has worked as a health and science correspondent. During his 1984-1995 tenure at WCBS-TV, Field presented an annual fire prevention series that garnered several New York Emmy Awards.

"When someone with the experience of Frank Field comes along, you jump at the chance to get him," said WWOR programming director Leslie Glenn.

Field is replacing Richard Wiese, who is leaving the station.
