Sony Releasing prexy Blake gets 'E' for effort

NEW YORK --- Sony Pictures Releasing president Jeff Blake will receive the 1997 Show "E" Award at this year's ShowEast Convention, which will run Oct. 20-23 at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, N.J.

The Show "E" Award is presented annually to an exec in honor of his professional achievements and his dedica-tion to improving the industry. Previous recipients include Barry London, Sumner Redstone, Mitch Goldman and Mike Campbell.

"We are honored to be able to pay tribute to Jeff Blake and to single him out for all his achievements not only over this past year but over a career that spans more than 20 years," ShowEast general chairman Greg Dunn said.

Blake joined Sony as president of domestic distribution for Columbia Pictures in May 1992. Two years later, he was named president of Sony Pictures Releasing with responsibility for all Columbia and TriStar releases, in-cluding the recent box office successes "Men in Black," "My Best Friend's Wedding" and "Jerry Maguire."

Before Sony, Blake spent 18 years at Paramount Pictures, where he started out as a sales booker in the Chicago territory and rose to executive vice president and general sales manager of domestic distribution.
