Doerges to top Leavesden outfit

LONDON --- Norman Doerges, former exec VP of Disneyland, has been appointed president and chief operating officer of Leavesden Developments, the company that operates Leavesden Studios near London.

Leavesden Studios originated as the production base for "GoldenEye," and has since hosted "Mortal Kombat Annihilation" and the prequels to the Star Wars trilogy.

Leavesden Developments is planning to develop the site into what it claims will be the U.K.'s first "movie-related studio tour and entertainment complex."

Doerges, 54, worked at Disney for more than 30 years, involved in planning many aspects of the Disney theme parks in Florida and California. Most recently he has been working on Disney's California Adventure, a $1.4 billion expansion theme park due to open next to Disneyland in 2001.

Leavesden Developments is owned by Malaysian-based George Town Holdings.
