Favreau, Fox ink deal

Jon Favreau, the scribe and star of the hot indie pic "Swingers," has inked a deal to adapt Po Bronson's novel "The First 20 Million Is Always the Hardest" for 20th Century Fox and Harold Ramis' Ocean Pictures.

The satirical black comedy is set in Silicon Valley and traces the roots of money and power in the computer industry. Harold Ramis and Trevor Albert will produce, with Ramis possibly directing.

Fox senior VP Hutch Parker is the exec on the project for Tom Rothman's film division.

After gaining acclaim for "Swingers," Favreau has secured writing and acting gigs around town. Among his current projects is "Leatherheads," a period drama about the crazy early days of the NFL, which he's rewriting for Universal.

And onscreen, Favreau next will be seen in the Paramount-DreamWorks co-production "Deep Impact," the asteroid disaster pic helmed by Mimi Leder. Pic is slated for release next summer.

Favreau was repped on the deal by United Talent Agency.
