Hoffman tax trial begins

At the close of court Tuesday, jury selection still had not been completed as Peter Hoffman's criminal trial on tax evasion charges got under way in U.S. District Court in L.A. The trial, which is expected to take about three weeks, is presided over by Judge John Davies.

One hint of the case to come is the defense's witness list, which includes Carolco principals Mario Kassar and Andy Vajna; former Carolco chief financial officer Warren Braverman; and Paramount Motion Picture Group chairman Sherry Lansing.
