Program aired only once before --- on Sept. 29, 1955, the day before James Dean's deadly car crash --- and found Cobb trying to stump a panel that included Bill Cullen, Henry Morgan, Faye Emerson and Jayne Meadows. Garry Moore was the host.
Indeed, Cobb did stump the panelists trying to guess his secret: "I have the highest lifetime batting average in baseball." Perhaps the panel thought the secret was something more along the lines of, "I am an irascible, bigoted hardnose."
The following Friday, Sept. 19, Game Show Network trots out a second edition of the show on which the guests included baseball Hall of Famers Cy Young, Jimmie Foxx and Dazzy Vance. No word yet on what their secrets were.
