Waller-KTLA truce
Reporter settles age, sex bias lawsuit
No other details were provided, but it is believed that no money will change hands in the settlement.
Waller, 45, had sought unspecified damages from Tribune Broadcasting, then-station news director David Goldberg and KTLA VP and G.M. John Reardon in the wake of her ouster. Her suit charged that her demotions from anchor positions on the midday and weeknight KTLA newscasts were "based on the discriminatory belief that it was inappropriate for an older woman" to anchor the broadcasts.
"KTLA is pleased that it has been able to put aside and resolve any differences it has with Marta Waller," Reardon said in a statement Wednesday. "We look forward to Marta continuing to be a valued part of our investigative reporting unit and news team."
Said Waller: "I am pleased that KTLA and I have mutually resolved any difference we had."
Waller recently returned from London, where she covered the death of Princess Diana and mourning aftermath.
