Capitol drops black music unit
Jean Riggins, VP/general manager of the division, will be leaving the company to pursue other interests, according to a statement.
The restructuring was announced by Capitol Records president CEO Gary Gersh, who termed the changes "a step toward establishing a broader music focus at Capitol."
The closing of the division had long been rumored, as Gersh continues to place his imprint on the executive suites in the Tower.
In a related move, Mickey Diage, an almost 30-year veteran at the label who left in late spring during a round of staff cuts, has returned to the helm of its in-house ad agency, Ninth Floor.
