Sony gives in on used CDs
Sony agreed to provide advertising money to retail outlets as long as they don't use it to promote used CDs.
Earlier this week, MCA Music's Uni Distribution and the distribution arms of Time Warner and Thorn EMI revised their policies. Wherehouse Records had filed suit against the four labels.
The diskeries had hoped to dissuade retailers from selling used CDs, which they believe would dent sales of new ones.
