It's one down, two to go in court proceedings involving Atari Games Corp. and Nintendo of America. An eight-member federal court jury in San Francisco on Thursday unanimously validated Nintendo's 1989 patent on a videogame security cartridge.

Atari Games, a Time Warner unit unrelated to Atari Corp. of Sunnyvale, earlier was ruled to have infringed the patent. The trial has two parts remaining to be settled in court, after which damages will be assessed. Atari Games intends to appeal Thursday's ruling.

General Motors Corp.'s EDS will assume responsibility for certain Nielsen Information Services info technology functions -- including management of hardware and software, computer operations, recovery services and system software support -- under an agreement announced Thursday.

Lin Broadcasting had revenues of $ 171.2 million in the second quarter, ended June 30, compared with adjusted $ 142.9 million in the comparable period last year. Company, which owns seven TV stations, had a net loss of $ 16.6 million ( 32 cents per share) in the quarter, compared with a loss of $ 12.7 million (25 cents) last year. Six-month net was down $ 31.2 million (61 cents per share), compared with adjusted $ 43.4 million loss (84 cents) last year. Lin stock was down 2 5/8 to 101.25 Thursday.

Intl. Cablecasting Technologies Inc. reported a revenue increase to $ 1.7 million in the third quarter, ended June 30, from $ 218,000 in the same period last year. It credited the continued marketing of its premium digital audio service, DMX. ICT reported a loss per share of 13 cents, compared with a per-share loss of 37 cents in the comparable period last year. Revs included the unconsolidated loss from operations of its foreign subsidiary, ICT-Europe.
