KABC, KCBS top NATAS community service noms

Local O&Os KABC-TV and KCBS-TV each received two of 18 nominations as finalists for the National Award for Community Service, presented annually by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

KCBS was recognized for the programs "A Reason to Change" and "In Peril on the Sea," while KABC's finalists are "Scared Sober" and the public affairs series "City View."

Four finalists were also announced in both local and national public service announcement categories. Awards will be presented Aug. 25 in New York.
