AMPAS board adds eight
All 12 are serving three-year terms, which begin Aug. 1.
Other branch reps include: Robert Daly (executives), Conrad Hall (cinematographers), Don Hall (sound), Frank Pierson (writers) and Arthur Schmidt (film editors).
Saul Bass (short films), Bruce Broughton (music), Howard W. Koch (producers) and Marvin Jay Levy (public relations) were the reelected governors. In all, there are three governors for each of the 12 branches, serving staggered terms.
Jonathan Erland was elected to a one-year, non-voting term representing the visual effects members of the Academy. AMPAS is continuing to explore the possibility of reorganizing the short films branch into an animation/visual effects branch.
Coolidge, Daly and Peck replace Gilbert Cates, Robert Rehme and Karl Malden, respectively, who have each served the maximum nine consecutive years as governors. Governors who've served three consecutive three-year terms must be on hiatus for at least a year before serving on the board again.
