Fox Int'l taps Neeson VP

Scott Neeson, general manager of Australian distrib Hoyts Fox Columbia TriStar films, is moving to L.A. as marketing VP of 20th Century Fox Intl.

Neeson replaces Gross

Neeson, who is due to take up the new post in August, replaces David Gross, who indicated last month that he would exit in September when his three-year contract expires.

Neeson's appointment was confirmed here Thursday by Fox Intl. president Walter Senior, who was in Brussels for the Cine Expo Intl. convention.

'Remarkable job'

Senior said Neeson had done a "remarkable job" with the distribution and marketing of Fox product in Australia for the past 3 1/2 years, adding: "His move to our home office not only strengthens an already solid marketing operation, but also underscores our overall philosophy of rewarding outstanding performance with upward mobility within the company."

At Fox, Neeson will oversee advertising, publicity and promotion for the foreign theatrical division, reporting to Senior.

Earlier in his career, Neeson served as a general manager of Hoyts Distribution, as a national film buyer and programming manager of Hoyts Theaters , and as a programmer for the Greater Union loop.

Successor unnamed

His successor at the Hoyts Fox Col TriStar co-venture has not yet been named, but Bob Girard, currently the Fox home office rep in Japan, is said to be under consideration.
