Col's 'Last' word on 'Hero'

With tongue firmly in cheek, Columbia Pictures issued a statement Friday designed to "cut off the endless string of media calls from all around the world" on its release plans for "Last Action Hero."

In capital letters, the studio said it "ABSOLUTELY WILL MAKE" its June 18 date for "Last Action Hero," as well as a world premiere in Los Angeles on June 13 and press screenings beginning June 11.

"From this point forward, Columbia Pictures is happy to take press calls on all topics -- except on the crushingly boring and now (we hope) self-evident subject of our 'Last Action Hero' dates," according to the studio statement.
