H'w'd shuffle continues
"Mo' Money"/"The Last Boy Scout" star Damon Wayans has inked with CAA's Michael Ovitz, Ron Meyer, Todd Smith, Richard Lovett and Jay Moloney, while actor James Woods has ankled a 17-year relationship with CAA to sign for representation with ICM senior executive VP Ed Limato and senior VP Toni Howard.
Managed by Eric Gold, Wayans signed with CAA just days after his brother Keenen Ivory Wayans inked with the Beverly Hills-based talent agency (Daily Variety, May 14). Gold said his management and CAA "see a common vision and philosophy" for Wayans.
Gold and CAA are expected to fuel a push by Wayans and his Wife and Kids Prods., to become more aggressive in the movie and television arenas. Wayans is next slated to star in Columbia Pictures' "Blankman," which is scheduled to begin production on Sept. 7.
"With the right movies, he's Eddie Murphy," said one studio production executive.
By signing with Limato and Howard, Woods is banking on ICM to place him among Hollywood's top leading actors. Limato is one of the industry's most respected talent agents, representing such players as Richard Gere, Mel Gibson and Michelle Pfeiffer.
The Emmy Award-winning Woods will appear opposite Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger in the coming Universal Pictures release "The Getaway."
