Carl Carranza, who does business as Flashcast Computerized Casting, claimed in a suit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court that a pair of McIlvaine stories last May and June caused his business to fall off drastically and led employees to walk out.
The station later broadcast a "grossly inadequate" retraction of the stories, the suit stated.
Flashcast, according to the complaint, specializes in arranging auditions for babies and children.
The complaint seeks unspecified compensatory and punitive damages and an injunction against further defamatory broadcasts.
KCBS officials did not return phone calls.
