Ex-Temptation sues for royalties

A member of the Temptations has sued the Gordy Co. and Motown L.P. for allegedly failing to pay all royalties due him over the past 20 years.

In a complaint filed in U. S. District Court in Los Angeles, Dennis Edwards said he has not received promised royalties even though Motown made "great profits" from Temptations recordings.

The suit seeks at least $ 10 million in compensatory and punitive damages.

Edwards said he signed a series of agreements with Motown between 1968 and 1980 guaranteeing royalties.

Jobete Music Co. Inc. also is a defendant.
