'Affair' nabs 'Nightline' cultist guest

ABC News' "Nightline" was the victim of a "guest-napping" on Friday, as a scheduled interview with a survivor of the Waco cult stand-off was scrubbed by his 11th-hour deal for an exclusive chat with "A Current Affair."

The syndicated Twentieth TV tabloid wouldn't disclose what it had paid for the privilege of interviewing cult member David Thibodeau, whose appearance on "Nightline" had been promoted on air Thursday night.

An "Affair" spokesman said a two-part interview with Thibodeau would air tonight and Tuesday.

"Nightline" officials were reportedly angered by the guest-theft. Ironically, the show recently featured an episode about the ethics of paying for interviews.
