Lipsky to join Baker/Winokur/Ryder

Marketing guru Mark Lipsky has inked a deal to join Baker/Winokur/Ryder as senior veepee, the firm announced Friday.

Lipsky will oversee the New York operations of Beverly Hills-based Baker/Winokur/Ryder, playing a role in the company's corporate, talent and film operations in the Big Apple.

The company's plan call for its newly opened office to sport three account executives working under Lipsky, including newly hired New York account executive Julie Yaeger, who will ankle her post in the Manhattan at TriStar Pictures.

Lipsky's appointment signals Baker/Winokur/Ryder's aggressive bid to re-establish itself in the New York market.

Currently, such firms as PMK Public Relations, Clein + White Inc., Dennis Davidson & Associates, Samantha Dean and Associates and The Peggy Siegal Co. slug it out for film representation in New York.

Baker/Winokur/Ryder maintained an office in New York for more than six years, before closing its office in September 1992. The firm was reportedly stymied from landing movie campaigns on occasion because it did not have bi-coastal operations to service the two media hubs.

A former president of Miramax Films' Prestige Films banner, Lipsky will spearhead campaigns for Gramercy's upcoming "Posse" and "Kalifornia."
