Working Title names 2 vps

London-based Working Title Films is ramping up its slate of productions in the $ 10 million-$ 12 million range, and has appointed Debra Hayward and Liza Chasin as VPs of development/production.

Hayward, who joined the company in 1990, will oversee development from Working Title's London headquarters, while Chasin, who joined in 1991, will be based in the Los Angeles office.

Both will be active in all phases of development and production, with the goal of developing a slate of films with what the company refers to as "broad audience appeal."

Working Title Films, which was acquired by Polygram Filmed Entertainment in February 1992, has in production "The Hudsucker Proxy," produced and directed by Ethan and Joel Coen from a screenplay by the Coen brothers and Sam Raimi. The film, a co-production between Working Title and Silver Pictures, will be released domestically by Warner Bros.

Hayward and Chasin are overseeing the active development of a number of films , being produced by co-chair Tim Bevan, including:

o "Moonlight and Valentino," a romantic comedy about four women brought together after the death of one's husband. A director will be announced shortly.

o "Plunkett and Macleane," a comedy action-adventure, described as an 18 th-century "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid." Written by "Enchanted April" scripter Peter Barnes, the film will be produced in association with GaryOldman and Douglas Urbanski's Matisse productions. Selwyn Roberts will serve as line producer. A director will be announced soon.

o "Air Tight," an action-adventure film written by Mark Danielewski and Daniel Salzman.

o "Loch Ness," a family fantasy story about a U.S. scientist who goes to Scotland in search of the Loch Ness monster. Tom Mankiewicz will direct from John Fusco's script. Steve Ujlaki will produce.

o "Over Exposed," a psychological action thriller about a working-class man wrongly accused of a brutal murder. Peter Hewitt will direct from Charles Martin's script.
