Kalish gets WGAW Cox nod

TV writer Irma Kalish will receive this year's Morgan Cox Award, given by the Writers Guild of America West to a member whose "vital ideas, continuing efforts and personal sacrifice" exemplify service to the guild.

"Irma Kalish has given countless hours of service to our guild," said Del Reisman, WGAW presi-dent.

"Her work helped to lay the foundation for many of the benefits enjoyed by writers today. She has combined this service with an outstanding career in television."

From 1981-85, Kalish served two terms as guild VP. She also served two terms on the guild's board of directors and on many guild committees.

Her work as a writer included contributions, many co-written with her husband , Austin, on such shows as "Too Close for Comfort,""227,""Facts of Life,""I Dream of Jeannie" (and the telepic "I Dream of Jeannie: 15 Years Later"), "Good Times" and "All in the Family."

She will receive the award during the 45th annual WGAW award ceremonies March 22 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
