Prince unveils new North American tour

Prince is ready to roll like a little red Corvette, announcing yesterday a North American tour that will include such markets as Boston, New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Dubbed "Prince and the New Power Generation: Act 1," the tour will launch on March 8 at the Sunrise Theatre in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The concert supports Prince's new album, referred to as "Androgynous," which is the first title released under his recently inked Warner Bros. Records deal (Daily Variety, Sept. 4).

Prince's national music voyage marks his first major North American tour since his "Lovesexy" extravaganza in 1987-88. The musician will play smaller venues this time around.

A full schedule of cities, venues and on-sale dates will be announced quickly , with multiple gigs pencilled in for at least 10 cities.
