Los Angeles-based First Look Pictures and Japan's Oz Company will co-produce four films over the next two years.
The films, described as genre-themed and "combining the Japanese and American cultures in upbeat action adventures," will debut at the upcoming American Film Market via Overseas Filmgroup.
The first two titles of the package will be "American Yakuza" and "Blue Tiger."
"Yakuza" is described as the tale of an undercover drug enforcement agent who finds himself seduced by the world and code of the Japanese crime ring he has infiltrated.
"Tiger" is an erotic thriller involving a woman who becomes romantically involved with aman she suspects is responsible for the murder of her husband.
Both films are being made in association with Neo Motion Pictures and are in development for filming later in 1993.
The co-venture signals stepped up activity for Ozla, Oz's American arm, set up a year ago. Ozla's first production, "H.P. Lovecraft's Necronomicon," will film next month in L.A. with Brian Yuzna directing.
First Look Pictures is the packaging/financing arm of Overseas Filmgroup.
